Hope Holman's Story
I knew I was adopted since the age of 12. I was being nosey in my adopted parents’ file cabinet and found 2 birth certificates with my name on it. I questioned my mom and she said yes you were adopted. We talked a little about it and then I didn’t inquire anymore until I was around 18. I said that I didn’t want to know who they were. Over the years my emotions were all over the place about wanting to know who they were.
When the pandemic came, I wrote a letter to try and get my records, when I got a response I was told they didn’t have any records. I decided to leave it alone. Fast forward to 2023, I bought an ancestry test and let it set on my dresser for almost a year, my fiancé kept asking me when was I going to take the test. One day I just decided and took it. I was nervous for about a month, when I got the results, there it was right on top my biological dads name. I cried like a baby just looking at the name.
I automatically put my detective hat on and with the help of a search angel, we tracked him down. I was so nervous but I called him and told him that I had taken a DNA test and his was my dad. He was speechless and said he knew nothing about me and doesn’t know who my mother could be. His niece had reached out to me and we talked and formed a bond.
We went to a DNA center and got tested and the results came back that he was my father. We’re building a great relationship. They had a big party for my kids and grandkids to meet everyone. I got so emotional just looking at all the love we’re receiving. I’m on a mission now to find out who my biological mother is and to see if she wants a relationship with me.
