Georgia's Story

Hi, my name is Georgia. I am 20 years old. I was adopted at 4 months old from the US by a Mennonite couple from Canada. Since the age of 12 or 13, I have struggled immensely with being adopted. I always struggled, and still do, with being unable to know my birth family and have active relationships with them. I connected with my birth mom and sisters back in 2024, but that didn't go as I hoped, which still affects me.

I'm biracial. I was born to a white mother and a black father, and since January of 2025, I've made it my mission to find him. And that is when I reached out to a lady for help. Fortunately, she was kind and willing to help in whatever way she could, and for the past year she has been trying to piece things together by building out my family tree.

Our biggest breakthrough, though, was after I took a second DNA test and was matched with a very close relative on my father's side who is believed to either be my aunt or half sibling! My father's identity hasn't been confirmed, but I'm the closest I've ever been to finding out the truth of his identity! Thank you all so much for taking the time to read this short version of my story! It's appreciated!
