Respect Personal Experiences

Every adoptee experience is different. Healthy discussions and respectful disagreements are welcome, but personal attacks, harassment, discrimination, or mocking others will not be tolerated.

Sensitive Topics

Some stories and discussions may be sensitive for others. We ask everyone to engage thoughtfully and respectfully.

Do Not Repost Stories or Images

Stories and images shared through I’m Adopted are published with permission from the author through our 'Share Your Story' page. Please do not reproduce, republish, screenshot, repost, alter, or reuse stories or images without permission. This includes the use of AI or other tools to rewrite, modify, generate, or repurpose stories originally shared by our community. This also includes sharing content on other Facebook or Instagram pages that may appear similar to ours.

If you would like to share a story from our website, please use the official story link (If it's shared on our story page). For stories shared on Facebook or Instagram, please use the platform’s official Share or Repost feature only.

Respect Privacy & Boundaries

Please respect personal boundaries at all times. Do not pressure anyone for sensitive personal information, reunion details, contact information, or family history.

Both pages display the verified badge and are linked directly through this website. If you come across pages reposting stories, imitating our branding, pretending to represent I’m Adopted, or reproducing our content without permission, please report them directly through the platform.

Moderation

We reserve the right to remove content, disable comments, or restrict access where necessary to help maintain a safe and respectful environment for our community.

We may not always see every comment or discussion immediately. I’m Adopted is run by volunteers, and we are based in New Zealand, meaning time zones can sometimes affect response times.

If something needs attention, please contact us directly through our website and we will respond as quickly as possible. When reaching out, we kindly ask that communication remains respectful.

We understand that adoption can involve many different perspectives, emotions, and complexities. We understand this because we are adoptees ourselves, and we do our best to help keep our community safe and respectful for everyone.
